This is the front entrance to St Tibb's High School, with the original wall and front gate that surrounded the entire Marringdon Hall estate.
This is the entrance through which all students enter and exit the grounds, and because of the age of the structure, it is protected from alteration and demolition to preserve a part of the architectural heritage of the area. A wider entrance for service vehicles exists at the back of the school but that is much less interesting to see, and students are discouraged from entering at that point because of the increased risk from traffic.
There is a place to park and secure students' bicycles within the grounds but cycling is forbidden once inside the perimeter, with girls required to walk their bikes to reduce the risk of colliding with other students.
Shown in this image, left to right, are: Praanvi Kayal (with bicycle), Zheng Xiulan, Amelia Jobson, Nadia Swinley.
