Cateline:
After the tradegy, Cateline survived in the harsh environment of the now ruined city for many years before being rescued by the Future Foundation. During those years, luck wasn’t on her side as she lost a great deal of weight due to finding it difficult to find any sort of food and resources for her survival. And worst of all, she lost her left arm back while she was escaping from the Reserve Course students when they were destroying the Academy, feeling hopeless and stressed most of the time as she lost the ability to do what loved the most, drawing and painting.
After the rescue, feeling indebted with the organization, she ended up joining it, and works as a member of the 10th Division. Due to her former title as a painter, she still has a few knowledge regard of art history and art tecniques about the use of subliminal messages. And thankfully, she is now learning to write (and drawing) once again.

Hanno:
In the meantime, Hanno was among the first to be rescued when the Future Foundation was founded. During that period, the base of the organization was the safest place to be, and he hoped that most of his classmates (and Cateline) would also be in it. But once he realized the painter wasn't there, the Former Ultimate Captain took it upon himself to do his best to find her, rising in rank by the years to become the Leader of the 13th Division because of his knowledge regarding cargo transport (via ships and boats) and his ability to discover and secure safe routes for distributing resources.
In spite of his accomplishments within the organization, Hanno was skeptical of the other branch leaders and their objectives. He suspected that a few Ultimate Despairs had managed to sneak in and infiltrate their ranks. Upon reuniting with Cateline, and the former painter affirming his suspicions (due to her 'hidden talent'). The branch leader left the Future Foundation, taking Cateline with him and most of their resources on a modified Yatch. Aware that the organization was doomed.
