Mass Effect werewolf au, anyone? Turns out all the Alliance’s top marines and N7s are lycanthropes, Shepard included, which definitely helps even the playing field for humanity a bit in council space. Generally able to shift at will, every so often they’ll come across a planet whose moons play merry havoc on their transformations, though…
I imagine they wear like… paneled kinetic suits to accommodate the size difference between forms with some sort of charged mesh between the panels so it still functions as armor, at least for limited stretches.
