SaiseiFor the past few months I've been reading through Vagabond, and one of the most standout aspects of the manga is the artwork, in terms of texture, detail, and emotion. Takehiko's use of traditional brushes in certain situations allows him to convey so much more feeling, fluidity, and motion than could be portrayed with a more technically accurate approach. He also complements this with a great knowledge of anatomy and lighting, allowing the reader to understand the characters not just through dialogue, but through body language, and subtle changes in expression.
Here I was trying to replicate one of the panels, using digital brushes to achieve the same analogue effect. It was quite fun, and I'd like to try again in the future.
