SnotnarokHoly cow, 30 years of Sonic the Hedgehog??
So, sappy story time.
I'd never owned a games console before. I knew others who did and always wanted one, my grandma who lived with us upstairs was wrapping up a Sega Genesis for xmas when I walked into the room to hang out with her. She smiled and put her finger to her lips and went back to wrapping. "It's for your brother and sister too".
I gamed on that thing like no-body's business, Sonic 1 came with it, eventually got Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Shining Force 2 my first SRPG, my dad got me Earth Worm Jim a few years later which- is the only game my parents ever got me haha! We even got a freakin' Sega Channel for a while! I got to play, so, many, games on it. Phantasy Star 4, Vectorman, Road Rash, Mega Man the Wily Wars, Pulseman, the Jurassic Park games.
As nerdy and lame as it sounds, while gram may have passed on I still have the Genesis & Sonic 1 that came with it. It means a lot to me. She really cared, listened and wanted to help me in all my interests.
She helped me with my art career too, being a caregiver for so long I didn't have the job or money for a fancy drawing tablet but, she helped and now I'm still drawing stuff because of her. I really have her to thank for getting me started with digital art so much earlier than I could have managed.
I'm all choked up talking about this it's just a lot to go back through in my head.
Anyway, I know most don't read the description- which is probably for the better in this case hah. But thank you if you did. I'd love to hear any gaming memories you have with your family!
