After her vengeful slaughter, Aibreann was bitten by a vampire and began to turn, however, the Sidhe (also known as Aos sí) made her drink some of their blood to prevent her from going full on vampire. This, however, had the effect of Aibreann being able to walk around people during the day, but draining her of basic energy.
For about 200+ years she wandered Ireland, either drinking blood or accepting offerings. Until she came across a small village and settled there. Initially, she was simply an observer, watching the village grow. But she did want something to protect. For nearly 1200 years she's been the sole protector of the village. Any invaders, be them Viking, Normans, English, or anyone or anything never managed to conquer this village. And for 1200 years more shall she reign over it.
