BoredRabbitMario + Rabbids is a amazing game as I had memories playing Mario XCom with Ubisoft's Rabbids (it's a great game if you want to play it on the Switch). I beated it for about 3 years now and still hope that a sequel could be in-development if it's true. This idea you're seeing is more of a different approach and more keen to "if the Rabbids invaded the Mushroom Kingdom within the Mario & Luigi universe".
So what's the plot for "A Raving Invasion"? The plot is more centered like the M+R intro, except there's a twist to it. Instead of the Rabbids dressed as Mario characters and the Mario characters getting sucked into the vortex, this takes places in the Mario & Luigi universe, where the vortex opens near a forest, where the Rabbids and a bunch of objects/props falls in the ground. Mario & Luigi were having a normal day like in the beginning of the games. However, they see a load full of Rabbids running down into the Mushroom Kingdom causing mayhem and havoc around ToadTown and Peach's castle. Starlow was shocked to see these kind of bunnies going crazy as she usually sees normal ones, but the Rabbids made her go in a little panic. Luckily the Mario Bros. and Starlow escaped from being scattered from the Rabbids. However, one particular Rabbid follows the Mario Bros. in hopes to go on a Journey with them. At first, the Mario Bros. and Starlow were skeptical since they think this one would annoy them. But this one Rabbid tells them that they need to get the Time Washing Machine back first. This Rabbid knows that Bowser Jr plans to get Spawny to fuse the Rabbids with the Mario enemies such an a Rabbid Goomba. Together, the Bros. teams up with the one Rabbid who's goal to retrieve the Washing Machine and having to stop Bowser Jr. for plotting to takeover the Mushroom Kingdom with his Rabbid army.
