Eventually the planet fell to the Ilim, and among those who were Assimilated- Nephala was the most dangerous out of the batch. Before the invasion, Nephala was already the apex of the forgotten civilization, an advance race thats survivability was further backed with strange bio-industrial technology. With the knowledge Nephala Possessed, the hive converted its hive with this technology, further increasing the strength of The Ilim empire. Along with remnants of this race came there absurd capabilities. Nephala's race bared no Element, yet the race was capable of absorbing and copy any element around them. Through that- strengthen its immunity to the threat. They were even witnessed to copying opponents natural abilities such as flying or physically transforming there bodies. . Nephala, being the strongest of this race; was placed firmly high among the Ilim guard. Using the knowledge of the race, perfected the Ilims natural birthrates that were from Schesseterra herself. Allowing Schesseterra to mix and mangle through the vast collections of DNA thats built her hive, and condense them into a perfect living organism.
Anything strong enough for her to have the strongest body she can easily slip her soul into. While Nephala is normally seen in the background of the hive, witness accounts or interviews with the Ilim claim Nephala is silent even among the hive. While Nephala uses other Ilim to communicate verbally, doesn't have vocal cords to speak, but can communicate telepathically. Many claim Nephala is nice, though rarely shows emotion, or interest in the lowest or highest ranks of the hive. However, acts like a powerhouse on the battlefield alongside the strongest Ilim to take care of the Queens real dirty work. Thanks to Nephala's ominous presence, other Ilim fear being around, though the ones close often become weapons.
When not on the battlefield, Nephala is working in Schesseterras birthing chambers, constantly adjusting to create the strongest organism the hive has ever preduced. Along with the perfect body for the Ilim Empress. One ingredient the Empress wants is to add dragons, to see if the hive could ever match there strength.
