idrawprettyboysPart two of "You Are My Sunshine" is finally complete! I tried to make it as close to the first picture as possible, just with younger Goku, and Konzen replacing Sanzo. I used the same technique: inked with purple India ink and colored with strictly yellow and purple watercolors. I don't have a lightbox (I really should get one) so I challenged myself to redraw Sanzo/Konzen's face at the same angle. I miraculously managed to get it right! TwT I had to give Konzen a halo, to accentuate his divinity. I can't help but feel like Konzen reminds me of a Virgin Mary type figure. xD During the last couple weeks of working on these, I've been reevaluating how I view Goku and Sanzo's relationship. It's somewhere between father-and-son and lovers. Konzen is definitely a father to Goku... but when he's reincarnated as Sanzo... they're close to the same age (only 5 years apart) and have a different type of bond. I'm telling myself to just be happy with their relationship no matter what direction it takes.
