taichikun14I was crushed this morning when I heard of Fujita Toshiko’s passing. I’ve been playing her songs all day thinking, I can’t believe another amazing voice and talent is gone. First Wada Kouji, then Mizutani Yuuko, and now her...all gone too soon. I drew this with much sadness.
It was around 2000/2001 that I heard about “character songs” for the very first time. I honestly had no idea what it was, so I tried downloading “Yuuki wo Tsubasa ni Shite” through Napster or Bearshare or something...and I was blown away. I couldn’t believe that Taichi’s seiyuu had such an amazing singing voice. Her performance left such an impression on me that I obsessed over almost every Digimon chara song for years, and still continue to do so now with other series.
R.I.P. Fujita-san. Thank you for giving life to one of my favorite characters ever. No matter where this 20 year old story goes, you’ll always be the original leader.
