Resubmission because I screwed up the last post.

The 13.2x99mm Hotchkiss, not to be confused with the famed German 13.2x92mmSR Tank und Flieger, was a heavy machine gun cartridge designed in the late 1920s by Hotchkiss et Cie of France. It was used primarily in the Hotchkiss M1929 machine gun.
The 13.2x99mm cartridge and its successor the 13.2x96mm were used by multiple countries during WWII, the most notable being France and Japan. Both adopted the Hotchkiss M1929 machine gun.

The Hotchkiss M1929 was an anti-aircraft machine gun designed by Hotchkis that was also used in normal heavy machine gun roles. Related to the 25mm Hotchkiss M1938/39/40 (adopted by Japan as the Type 96 25mm Machine gun) the gas operated M1929 fed from a top mounted magazine. It had a 1 meter long barrel and fired at a muzzle velocity of around 800 meters per second.
Fabrique Nationale of Belgium produced Browning machine guns in 13.2mm hotchkiss as well.

Japan imported M1929 guns, parts, magazines, and ammo in the early 1930s, and adopted the M1929 as the Type 93 in 1933. Although Japan produced their own guns as of 1935, original Hotchkiss made magazines were used throughout the war.
Japan also used the Type 3 machine gun, which was a domestic Browning machine gun copy chambered in 13.2x99mm.
