The reason she looks so distant and forlorn is because I truly wasn't expecting the series to end the way it did. I was expecting far more angst and anger on her part for what Decim put her through.
Yet, she turned the other cheek. She accepted him and moved on. She's truly a wonderful character and I know I will never forget her.
I'm happy with the ending we got, but I do wish I got to see more. If only the show were twice as long...
