Petrus92Christmas is just around the corner and naturally the only way to celebrate it is to publish a Christmas related picture this week. No need to go outside of the box here, we all need out comfy Christmas pictures without huge twists to the formula after all ^^. Like with the last year’s Christmas picture, I decided to commission the lineart for this year’s picture from my beloved StarMVenus who always satisfies my needs for adorable and awesome art. For this year’s picture I decided to have Nino from Fire Emblem Blazing Blade and Sakura Kinomoto from Cardcaptor Sakura as the Christmas duo since I haven’t featured either of them for a while. Plus I thought that they would fit well for a Christmas picture since they’re both young magical girls who love cute Christmas stuff. For kids Christmas is after all the most magical time ever, even more fitting for these two since they’re well attuned with magic in other ways ^^. So they certainly will got a magical Christmas this year. In this picture I got Nino and Sakura in their Christmas outfits (from Fire Emblem Heroes and from one promotional artwork for CCS) holding presents in the front of a Christmas tree set on a city centre, I guess they’re acting as Santa’s helpers this year or they just got their share already from Santa. Either way, both of them seem to be enjoying their time together on this wonderful Christmas time ^^.
The colouring process on this picture was relatively straightforward since this picture got only two half-body characters this time with a simple background, been a while since I got to colour a non-full body picture. Those tend to require a lot of work because I often had complicated outfits for them, so focusing more on faces this time was a refreshing experience ^^. Their Christmas outfits got a plenty of details though that required a plenty of extra work to get right, for example Nino’s underskirt got interesting colours patterns plus both characters got a plenty of extra accessories like bells. Nino’s bell ribbon and Sakura’s wings on the back are nice homages for their other outfits they wore in their series, certainly a good way to pay homage and to make them stand out. Overall this was a wonderful picture to work for during this Christmas, definitely gets me into the mood for Christmas and more magical girl pictures ^^. Big thanks to StarMVenus for drawing the lineart for this extremely adorable picture, for the second time she has managed to make my Christmas magical with my commissions with her.
