DrPuffinPhDSo, here's another Sakura Empire carrier who can get a little intense (all right, VERY intense). But Taihou is different from Akagi. Akagi is more vulnerable than she lets on, but Taihou has always struck me as... fragile. Unlike Akagi, whose self-confidence is as boundless as her love for her Commander, Taihou doesn't seem to realise all the wonderful things about herself (I think you could make some comparisons to Sirius here). The final chapter of her secretary storyline is quite different from Akagi's, although it ends much the same way -- with the Commander accepting her love on her terms, and not just on their own terms.
But Taihou differs from Akagi in another way. Taihou is much more popular with fan artists (more than twice as many images on Danbooru), and the way some of them treat Taihou really bothers me. Those of you who follow this page will know that I like to write long captions for my posts (too long, some would say). Generally, the only time I mention other artists is to praise them and draw your attention to their wonderful work, and not to criticize them. But there are some artists out there who do a wonderful job drawing ladies like Taihou, but put them in situations that make me sick to my stomach (NTR is an obvious example). It's not my place to speculate on why these artists make the choices they make -- I don't know them, I don't know what's going on in their heads, I can't judge them. All I can do is make my own choices. And, whether I'm making fan art or fan fiction, my choices always boil down to the same thing:
I love these characters, and I want them to be happy.
