TuliharjaThis is a retouched and redrawn version of my older original artwork called Blue Ice (illust/120396541) The character is called 蒼氷 (Sohi) which means blue ice, hence the original artwork's name.
Blue Ice was one of my older artworks that I wanted to retouch and redraw when I was looking through my older artworks. I remember when I had first finished it, I felt pretty exhausted from it as drawing back then digital artworks didn't come that easy to me. So, as soon as it was ready, I felt like I was done with it.
After a few months when I had finished and posted it online, I realized the artwork looked unfinished. It looked very flat and it was very hard to tell apart all the details I had put on it. While I had wanted to make my character look very icy and pale, I realized I had gone too overboard with that all. That realization made me want to redo the artwork, but each time when I would arrange an actual time to retouch it and redraw certain parts, something would look just odd or not work.
I struggled greatly with my vision while trying to bring out Sohi apart from the background. Everything would have been easily solved if I had changed Sohi's hair color, or made her skin darker, or changed her clothes' color, or even the background! But because I imagined her to be a pale-skinned woman with light blue hair (and lips) and with satin-like dress that had snowflakes in it, I couldn't change those elements. Also, the icy snow-themed background just suited her character as Sohi means blue ice, so trying to make those all elements still stay while making the necessary changes wasn't the easiest task.
It took me this many years to get to this result and while there are still things that I could have probably done better, I'll leave polishing this version here. Otherwise, I would just keep polishing it without any ending which isn't that sensible in the long run. Hopefully, people will like the new version and appreciate the changes that I made! ❄️
