Polish electric freight locomotive created in 1969 by Pafawag (af Pafawag 201E). The locomotive was created during the increasing pace of electrification of railway lines and the lack of electric freight locomotives. It was a modification of the EU07 with six-axle bogies instead of four axles, but with the same traction engine and drive system. In 1969, the first prototypes were produced, and in 1971 unit tests were completed. That same year, 10 units were produced and production began to increase each year. In 1978, a production record was broken (94 locomotives per year). In 1972, a project of an improved electric locomotive marked as Pafawag 201Ea, also known as EP23, was created, the prototype of which was completed in 1973. In 1973-1974, Kolmex (a foreign railway trade company) signed a contract with the Moroccan ONCF for the supply of 23 units of an electric locomotive in a modified version of Pafawag 201Eg, also known as E10XX. In 1989, the production of the electric locomotive ended, but they are still in operation. Despite the fact that the locomotive is intended for freight transport, PKP also used them for passenger transport.
