NPC_0173So comic stuff for anyone who might care. For those who don’t know, long story short, PVZ AU yaddie-yada. Anyway, it's been more than a year since I released the Prologue which was 13 pages long, minus the bonus stuff.
I really thought it would only take 6 months to finish up the script but here we are. The reason why it’s taken so long is world building. I’m not kidding when I say there are over 1000 Plants, hell there might even be over 2000.
Another big time consumer was learning a lot about Brazilian fauna and flora. The comic takes place in 1 of 21 Regions, The Ruin Cities, which is basically Brazil if it was an overgrown forest. Yeah, that’s taking way longer than I ever thought it would.
Then you have all the Plant communities that live in the Ruin Cities and their cultures, designing all the Ruin City Plants which I’ve been going through. There’s also finding ways to incorporate local myths and legends into the world with my own spin, like the Mapinguri, which has 2 forms. You have the Zombie Mapinguari, a Giant Ground Cyclops, a giga Sloth with max defense points.
Then, there’s the 2 Intermissions, which are written stories. The first one is about the Guerriero Village, a Primarily Primal Plant village. Since it’s not given much to shine on its own in the comic due to the plot being demanded by something else, Intermission 01 is mainly going to be a series of short stories exploring different aspects of the village's culture and denizens and will mostly be told from the comic main Protagonist’s POV.
The second is looking back into the Guerriero Village’s history, mainly their time fighting against zombies. This is mainly because the first volume has no Zombies, since it is basically all a set for the rest of the Volumes. Hell, even the second volume only has one Zombie as the antagonist. So hopefully this will satisfy people who might be interested, since well, Zombies are kind of a big deal in the franchise named Plants Vs Zombies.
And then we have this side story. It was originally supposed to be around 5000 words and is now mostly likely going to reach 25000 to 30000 words with its own bonus stuff.
Originally it was going to be released alongside the first chapter, but let’s be honest, that’s not happening in a fat minute. The story is to introduce a crime syndicate named L.I.L.Y. And yes, it is a blatant knock off of L.E.A.F. It’s hard to explain, but the organisation is more so a set up, but that set up is so important in the comic that it would feel weird to just introduce them out of nowhere, hence why this is in the works.
Good news though, once this is done, I’ll finish up some final touches on the script on the first Chapter and begin illustrating it. I have a rough estimate of how long it’s going to be. The Prologue was around 2500 words and was 13 pages long. the 1st chapter is around 18000 words long and will most likely be 50 or more pages… On the bright side, the Chapters after that get shorter.
