The Raytheon Unmanned Modular Drone Weapon Systems (UMDWS) is a droid-like combat drone designed to enhance warfare while reducing the risk of American troops. Falling under America's Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGWS) program, the UMDWS proposal by Raytheon would see use in the initial stages of the war in Japan to assist JSDF forces in evacuating civilians from China's war. During it's early stages of development, the UMDWS had it's initial prototype stolen by the Chinese Ministry of State Security (MSS) from Raytheon, which lead to the Type 43's creation. Upon word that their prototype's specifications had been stolen, the then Mk1 was redesignated to Mk1A. With enhanced EMP against enemy drones, which includes the Type 43. The Mk1A UMDWS would see heavy fighting in Japan, recapture of Taiwan, and subsequently the Invasion of Mainland China
