Polish EMU created in 1997 by Adtranz-Pafawag (former Pafawag) in Wrocław. This is an improved version of the previous ED72 multiple unit designed in 1993 by Pafawag (before it was taken over by Adtranz). It was initially designed as the 22nd ED72, but several design features were changed compared to its predecessor, including replacing the scissor pantographs with half-shell pantographs and changing the traction drive. After passing tests, the train was transferred to the Polregio facility in Poznań, where it served until 2005. In the same year, it was moved to a siding in Gniezno, and in 2006 it was transported to the Lower Silesian Regional Transport Company in Wrocław for renovation. In 2007 it returned to regular service. In 2008, the train was again immobilized due to a breakdown and lack of spare parts, but a year later a decision was made to repair it. Since 2010, it has been serving Interregio trains from Łódź to Warsaw Wschodnia. Since 2013, the unit was waiting for the replacement of bogies, but in 2019 it was sold. Despite the efforts of the Polish Association of Railway Enthusiasts and the organization "Stacja Chrzanów" to enter the composition into the register of historical monuments, it was scrapped in 2019. It was the only model of this series.
