This fearsome beast is completely blind and has incredibly thick skin, allowing it to withstand blows even as it fights.
If two Raagluum charge each otherwith enough force, the impact can be heard for miles around.
These Pokemon live in herds and have a simple structure; they compete in contests of strength, with the strongest becoming the herd leader. These brutes have little intelligence and are always looking for things to fight.
Raagloom are considered to be the ultimate battering ram - once they begin stampeding, not even forests or mountains can stop their charge.
This Beast has both unique move and a uniqe ability. It's ability is Mindless Wrath (無知な怒り)
Mindless Wrath means the Pokemon can't use any Status moves, but it's Attack power is increased by 25%.
Raagluum’s design was quite difficult to get down, but I’m glad I persisted.
The idea was to create a Pokemon based on a siege weapon, particularly on a battering ram. The head and fin is based on an ice breaker, like on some ships. The idea is Raagluum slams this fin into a wall, cracking it, then raises it’s thick-skinned and muscular head to break through the wall, allowing it to smash through anything.
The actual creature is a mash up of different animals - the main body and colours are based on a killer whale, with some hippo. The limbs are based on a gorilla, allowing it to grapple with member’s of it’s herd. Killer whales being related to dolphins is one of the reasons I made it blind - it’s other sense are actually super sharp and it can tell a lot about the terrain around it just from the stampeding of the herd. They can even tell when they’re about to fall off a cliff!
The tail of this Pokemon is baed on a trebuchet, or catapult. I like the idea that as part of their ‘contests’ these Pokemon will sometimes take turns throwing rocks as far as possible. This doesn’t really work with them being blind so I dropped that - but I really like how this looks so I left the three tails alone.
Raagluum is a combination of Roar and gloom but corrupted to sound more thuggish.
ラグリウムのデザインはなかなか難しかったのですが、粘り強くやってよかったです。
攻城兵器、特に破城槌をベースにしたポケモンを作るというアイデアでした。頭とヒレは、船によくある砕氷船をベースにしています。ラグリウムがこのヒレを壁に叩きつけて割ってから、厚い皮膚と筋肉質の頭を上げて壁を突き破り、何でも打ち砕くというアイデアです。
実際の生き物は、さまざまな動物の寄せ集めです。本体と色はシャチをベースに、カバも少し入っています。手足はゴリラをベースにしており、群れの仲間と格闘することができます。シャチがイルカと関係があることは、シャチを盲目にした理由の 1 つです。シャチの他の感覚は実は非常に鋭敏で、群れの暴走から周囲の地形について多くのことを知ることができます。崖から落ちそうになることさえわかるのです。
このポケモンの尻尾は投石器、またはカタパルトの上にあります。このポケモンたちが「コンテスト」の一環として、交代でできるだけ遠くに石を投げるというアイデアが気に入っています。これは盲目なのでうまくいかないので削除しましたが、見た目がとても気に入ったので、3つの尻尾はそのままにしました。
Raagluum は Roar と Gloom を組み合わせたものですが、より凶暴な響きになるように改変されています。
