Explorer's Notes #2: I continue my exploration into the weird interdimensional phenomenon here in Gensokyo. Mokou got her vengeance and Kaguya got burnt to a crisp, but other than that I continued walking throughout Gensokyo to somewhere familiar. I haven't been to the Hakurei Shrine in what seems like a millennium, then again I've been asleep for so long. As I stood looking at the shrine I heard walking and chatting from behind me, and it was people I will always recognize, the Greater Shrine Maiden of Gensokyo, Reimu Hakurei, and the Magician in Black, Marisa Kirisame. As well as two smaller individuals I don't think I'd met before, though my little buddy told me the one with green hair was named Aunn Komano, and the one with purple hair was named Shinmyoumaru Sukuna. I walk up to my old friends to give a friendly hello, but they just walk right past me, almost as if they didn't notice me there... or as if they can't even see me?
I snapped out of my sorrow upon hearing Aunn barking all of a sudden and somehow I didn't notice a giant salamander-like creature sunbathing in front of the shrine, two little ones accompanying it. Reimu would also give a slight shout at the intruders but was easily swayed to let them stay when she saw these creatures had straight-up raw gold growing on their backs. Still attracted to shiny things she is. I was more stunned that it was Marisa who was the skeptical one in this scenario, seeming to not be aware of all these new creatures coming into Gensokyo. Aunn and Shinmyomaru didn't seem to mind these things, well Aunn wouldn't stop sniffing them until Shinmyomaru flicked her on the nose. According to my buddy, these things are called Gildemanders, the bigger ones are called that but the smaller ones are called Gildemandwees.
They don't seem that smart, but they can comprehend that Reimu and Marisa are in front of them. However, at most, they just stare off into the distance. Aunn would begin to pet one of the smaller ones while Shinmyomaru joined in and Reimu would pluck off the raw gold on the backs of the Glidemandwee, standing in awe by shininess. It was at that time I noticed someone else in the group a small fairy in strange attire was sitting on the head of the Gildemander, her name is apparently Clownpiece. Not the most creative name, but I've seen stranger names.
I suppose I should take my leave to leave Reimu with her new friends. Or are they pets now? Not sure, but it's disheartening that they didn't notice me even though I'd get straight up into their face and yell their names. Well no use dwelling on it, I guess I'll just continue looking for more of these strange creatures and the interdimensional phenomenon.
Gensokyo seems... so different now...
