On that day, he had a dream. In the dream, they reunited after a long time apart on a vast, golden grassland.
After exchanging the usual questions about each other’s well-being, that person suddenly said something to him.
But upon waking, he couldn’t recall what was said...
It wasn’t until he received the heartbreaking news of that person’s passing that the words from the dream echoed once more in his mind—
“From here on, you’ll have to walk the path alone, Lothar…”
Hans-Valentin Hube (29 October 1890 – 21 April 1944) was a German general during World War II who commanded armoured forces in the invasions of Poland, France and the Soviet Union. In the course of the war, Hube led the 16th Infantry Division, XIV Panzer Corps, and the 1st Panzer Army rising to the rank of Generaloberst. He died in an air crash on 21 April 1944.
