The oldest sibling in her family, she grew up in poverty. Conditions were tough for her and her many siblings. As her parents were almost always away working to provide, she was essentially the third parent, shouldering responsibilities beyond her years. Eventually, due to overwork, her parents passed away, each a year apart. At just 12, she had to step up and provide for her siblings, seeking heavy labor jobs despite the legal restrictions against child labor in her country.
She eventually found work at a small lumber shop, where the owner, sympathetic to her situation, took her on. Though he admired her determination, he wouldn't allow her to take on heavy tasks; instead, she became an office assistant, handling paperwork and errands. Yet, feeling guilty for not contributing enough, she occasionally helped with labor tasks around the shop, much to the owner’s dismay. He continually reassured her that her efforts were appreciated, but she was driven by an unshakeable sense that it wasn’t enough.
To protect his business, the owner advised her to avoid working when inspectors were nearby. By the time she turned 16, she had grown remarkably tall and muscular from her work in the shop. However, one day, a resentful coworker, envious of her position, threatened to blackmail the owner for employing a minor. Hearing of this, she confronted the coworker, and an argument escalated into a physical fight, ending when she knocked him out with a single punch. Unfortunately, the owner witnessed this and angered, fired her.
Desperate to provide for her siblings, she found herself drawn to street fighting. Despite her beautiful face contrasting with the brutal fights, she excelled, thriving in the cheering crowds. One day, a boxing coach spotted her in a match. Bloodied and bruised, she kept smiling, even willing to take risks that bordered on recklessness. As she loaded up a powerful punch, the coach was stunned by her strength, murmuring, “What unnatural power...” But her lack of technique caused the punch to miss, leaving her open to a counter that knocked her out cold. Yet, as she fell, she wore a smile, hearing the crowd’s cheers.
When the coach revived her, the first question she asked was, “Was the crowd loud?” Shocked, as most people would have asked where they were, the coach struck up a conversation with her about professional fighting. He wanted to see how far her power could take her in the boxing world. Her response was simple: “Money and cheers.” She wanted only to fight for the crowd’s cheers and to earn money for her family.
Though the coach had reservations, desiring a polished boxer, he ultimately embraced her unpredictable style.
