The Genesis Project
The Resistance, exhausted after years of fighting the Empire, desperately sought a way to change the course of the war. Conventional weapons were no longer enough. In the underground facilities of the secret base "Epsilon", tests and experiments were carried out tirelessly, trying to create what the higher-ups called "the ultimate weapon." However, failure was the norm, and time was running out.
“We've been testing different theories for months,” said Dr. Adler, leader of the research team. But nothing seems to work. Each attempt leaves us further from our goal.
"We have no choice, doctor," Commander Vásquez responded, looking at the reports on previous failures. The Empire is winning. If we don't stop them, the Resistance will fall.
Adler frowned. He knew that time was of the essence, but what they were about to do crossed a moral line that no scientist should cross. The "Genesis Project," as it was codenamed, was a top-secret experiment that attempted to defy the laws of nature, ethics, and even the will of God.
—Are we really going to go ahead with this? Dr. Leanne asked nervously as she reviewed the readings for the latest essay.
"We have no choice," Adler murmured, his voice heavy with doubt. If this works, we could create something the Empire can't stop. But… we are playing at being gods.
The experiment was simple in theory, but deeply dangerous in its execution. It involved altering the genetic code of a human being to give them superhuman abilities: strength, speed, intelligence beyond any known limit. But that was not what worried the scientists. What really challenged the bioethics and morals of the project was the method.
Human experimentation.
Instead of captured prisoners, a group of military volunteers from the Resistance were chosen. They knew what was at stake and, desperate for a solution, offered their bodies and lives for the experiment.
"If this can save us, then I'm willing to do it," said one of the volunteers, a soldier with a determined look. I don't care what happens to me.
The team selected them in secret, keeping everything out of the Resistance's public eye. But even inside the labs, the tension was palpable.
"These men are here because they believe in the cause," Leanne said, trying to find some comfort. But this... is still inhuman.
"I know," Adler said regretfully. We are crossing a dangerous line. But if we don't, the Empire will destroy us all.
The day of the final experiment arrived. The volunteers were placed in containment capsules, connected to an intricate system of cables and machines that monitored their every vital function. The process to modify his DNA began.
“Beginning of the genetic alteration process,” a computerized voice announced, as the laboratory lights flickered.
