My partner invited me to draw fanart together for our favorite children's horror book "Red hand, black sheet, green fingers: frightful stories for frightless kids".
The plot is based on soviet children's urban legends of the second half of the 20th century. One of them is "The Green Record":
In one city there lived a girl. She had a grandmother. When the grandmother was dying, she said to the girl:
- Don't turn on the old green record.
She closed her eyes and died, and they buried her. The girl's mother also said to the girl:
- Look, don't turn on the green record.
But the girl couldn't wait, and she turned on the record when no one was home. And a scary voice began to sing:
Green eyes, green eyes are coming
They run across the wall
The girl cannot escape them
Not at all!
The girl heard the doorbell and turned off the record. The girl's mother came into the apartment. The mother was missing one arm. The next day, the girl put the record on again, and her mother came in without both arms.
Then her mother came in without one leg. And then without both legs. When she came for the last time, she said:
- You have ruined me, and you will perish too. Don't put on the record.
But the girl did not listen to her mother and turned on the record again. Before the record had time to sing a few words, the doorbell rang. The girl looked through the peephole, but saw no one. The girl opened the door anyway, and right in front of her stood huge Green Eyes, from floor to ceiling. They said:
- You didn't listen to your mother and you will die yourself.
And the Eyes strangled the girl.
