Two of the four founding members of Animal X alongside Bill Kerr and Don Amino, Natalie's parents Nathan and Maria Schmitt were killed in a plane crash (or so we thought) during an expedition to the Congo when Natalie was just an infant leaving her to be raised by Bill and their deaths were a big part in why their daughter grew up to become so brooding and anti-social. the blue-and-gray uniforms with the simple "X" logo they wore were the standard uniform worn by Animal X agents back in the day before they eventually switched to the all-black uniforms with the stylized "X" that agents wear in present day.
