Sergeant Kim received a credible tip that a woman named Sarah had been involved in a string of burglaries the BCPU had been looking into for a while. These burglaries were specifically committed in the lower-income part of the city, likely because the people living there could not afford advanced security systems. This also meant that these burglaries would also have more devastating economic effects. Because she wouldn't steal a rich person's third golden watch, but a family's emergency fund.
Already looking forward to the arrest and interrogation of this pathetic criminal, Kim made her way to the quiet neighborhood where Sarah lived. She parked her unmarked vehicle down the street from the suspect's house. Preparing for the arrest, Kim meticulously put on her gear, a gas mask and gloves would suffice this time. She checked her gas mask, ensuring a tight seal, and the fresh filter was ready to purify the air of any toxins or in this case, irritants. With everything ready, she carefully approached the house.
Spotting Sarah inside, Kim pulled out a tear gas grenade from her holster and threw it with force through the front window. The grenade made its way cleanly through the glass and deep into the house. Sarah screamed in surprise as the window broke and the canister rolled over the floor.
The canister hissed, releasing its irritating payload, and filling the room with a stinging mist.
She covered her mouth, trying to escape the irritating gas, but she stood no chance. As the gas seeped into every corner of the room, the tear gas quickly overwhelmed her senses. Sarah stumbled backward, clutching at her throat as tears streamed down her face. Coughing and gasping for air, she attempted to crawl away from the cloud of irritants
With her gas mask secured snugly on her face, Kim entered the house and closed the door behind her. Ensuring no chance of escape, she pulled the pin on another tear gas grenade and held onto it, adding more gas to the already dense fumes hanging in the house.
Kim walked, with a confident stride in her step, through the gas-filled room towards Sarah. Who was still trying to crawl away whilst coughing and crying in a futile attempt to escape. Kim jiggled a pair of handcuffs in her free hand, taunting her with the imminent arrest.
"You can stop right there, Sarah," Kim spoke, her authoritative voice slightly muffled by the gas mask, "You are under arrest for suspected burglary, and I would not suggest resisting."
Sarah, gasping for breath and tears streaming down her face, knew the game was up. She weakly surrendered, there was no way to resist, even if she wanted to, not with the tear gas assaulting her senses. Kim placed the handcuffs on Sarah's trembling wrists, the click of metal sealing her fate. The tear gas continued to choke her as Kim slowly and meticulously informed Sarah of her very limited rights.
