She was a young girl fascinated by the history of Greece, an aspiring sculptor who grew to love the legacy of this great empire that provided society with advancements that propelled our civilization forward. She was particularly captivated by the sculptures that showcased the ideal physiques of gods and goddesses. Unfortunately, she wasn’t very skilled at sculpting—horrible, to be honest. Despite all her hours of practice, she lacked the talent to create those figures in her studio. Her mediocre art was often ridiculed.
One fateful day, nearing her wit’s end, she considered selling her sculpting equipment when she stumbled upon a boxing gym. She stepped inside and caught the attention of the lead trainer.
“Hey, are you an athlete?” the trainer asked.
“No,” she replied.
The trainer was surprised, finding it hard to believe. “Sorry, I thought you were. Your body looks like a sculpture of a Greek goddess.”
Fascinated by the remark, she looked in the mirror and, to her surprise, realized she did have a toned body. It must have been from the constant sculpting—ironically, the rigorous, repetitive heavy lifting had shaped her body into the very form she struggled to perfect in marble.
Intrigued, she asked if she could try boxing and quickly discovered she was a natural.
