“On this long, cold night, I find myself alone in my tent, overwhelmed by the imminent threat of battle. I am wearied to my core, disillusioned by the relentless brutality of this war.
My dear, I know how steadfast and brave you have been, yet under these grim circumstances, I must be forthright. Please, leave and seek refuge in the West, somewhere far safer. Having lost all our sons, the thought of any harm coming to you is unbearable. Their absence has left an indelible mark on my soul, and I cannot endure the idea of any danger befalling you.
Making such a decision weighs heavily on me, but your safety remains my singular concern. I will stay here and carry out my responsibilities. Should this be our fate's cruel design, remember, my love for you is profound—my only beacon in this enveloping darkness.
Forgive me for all the pain and anxiety I have caused. It was never my intention. Take good care of yourself, and should I not return, please forge ahead and seek your peace and happiness—that is my utmost wish.
