"Phobia" is a newer character I've had a placeholder for for a long while. I started rewatching Tokyo Ghoul the other day and remembered how much I loved Uta. So there we go. I feel like the longer I went with this the worse the results were getting so I did stop a bit sooner than I would've liked, but I think I got some solid references out of it considering Uta's NAI prompt is basically useless. So who is Phobia?

In short. An artist. Phobia specializes in painting armor, making cosmetics like masks and costumes and extra bits and bobs for armor, and he does tattoo work. He's actually Lupa Team's go to for tattoos. He's done work on Viola, Lillia, and Rena. Viola and Lillia have matching tattoos that were inspired by some old art I was using for Lillia. It was Bronya from Honkai in some kind of festival outfit and she had a black bird and a blue bird on her thigh. I added that as a little bit of lore for her and decided since she and Viola are very close, they'd keep that as something they share. So even though Lillia's reference has changed, the tattoo of the birds stayed on her thigh. Viola is a lot more disciplined, so she got hers on her back where it's covered up by her uniform.

Rena has the Siege Crest from Durant on the back of her right shoulder. The players aren't aware of this yet but will find out next session when they go to Durant and make a stop at Phobia's shop. Rena plans on getting a bit more work done. For reference, the Siege Crest is the Schwarzmarken Crest with the 666 on it from the show of the same name. It represents the 666 day Siege Durant came under a few years prior. This is the crucible Lupa Team was born in. Rena came to Durant around 200 days in and formed the team around 260-290 days in. Viola and Falken fought through it from start to finish. It was a significant event and Rena wanted something to remember it.

This brings us to the art of tattooing in my campaign. Considering I have a full sleeve and am 8 hours into my second one, it's safe to say tattoos are important to me. They carry that same weight in my campaign, and Phobia shares that sentiment. He's incredibly skilled at his craft and is very thoughtful and considerate with his clients. He wants to make sure whatever they get is something they'll be proud and happy to have on their body. The art itself doesn't work too differently from how it does in the real world. Instead of a machine, the tattoos are applied using magic crystals manipulated by the artist. It punctures the skin, but instead of ink, it implants colorful inert magic into the body. The pain is about the same. The result is about the same. It's just more DnD friendly. Thanks to Rena's Healing Affinity, she's able to heal her tattoos within a few days. I am very jealous of that. :P

Phobia is, again, based of Uta from Tokyo Ghoul. His personality and mannerisms are about the same in game as the show. I'll probably use his actual show looks for his reference, I just wanted to try.

Enjoy.
