In Ukrainian mythology, Mavka is a girl who decided to die because of unfortunate love (I like to start strong, yeah😅). She is a forest spirit who mainly (but not always) lives on a tree. Depending on the environment Mavka lives in, there are 28 types of them💚
Generally, Mavka attracts men to the forest to take their life away! But Apple Tree Mavka is kinder, so she normally just treats people with apples and makes no harm. However, if a person destroys her tree or demolishes anything in the forest, probably… she’ll take revenge!😈
Mavka wears a white dress with no embroidery because embroidery is something for alive creatures and a wreath made with brunches of her tree🩷

As I usually draw to understand what I feel in the moment, after finishing this piece, I started thinking about what it represents🤔 It’s not like I came out with some concrete and sharp answers, but it led me to some thoughts:

She is smiling and radiant, the world is perfect around her... 
But what will happen when she opens her eyes? 
Will the world still be perfect or it will be on fire? 
What will she feel? 
Whom will she meet?
