Polaris For YouThe last member of Wedding Party for Indigo and Leena's wedding is Irena. She was added as a last minute addition. Unbelievably, at Scin's request. I don't know exactly when off the top of my head, but Scin meets Irena pretty early on in the Mid Game. From this first meeting, it's obvious Scin has a soft spot for her. The two get to talking pretty quick and seem to have a fun time with their conversation. It's a complete 180 from how Scin usually operates, so it's a wholesome shock to everyone who knows her.
Behind the scenes they do form a fast friendship. Irena's love for plays, music, and being read to, makes her pretty compatible with Scin. They have some solid shared interests. Moving forward to Alma, Irena is one of the first, because no one beats Rena, to offer Scin help with the daunting task she volunteered herself for. While Irena might not be able to handle the extremely precise and delicate work on the clothing itself, she could at least support Scin while she works. As everyone knows by this point, Scin is indomitable. She is fully dedicated to making sure everyone involved with the wedding has an outfit worthy of the occasion. Eating, drinking, sleeping, hell using the bathroom, are all a waste of time that could be spent working.
So Irena enters the picture and does her best to make sure Scin isn't running herself completely into the ground and having her mind snap from the monotony of making intricately designed clothes for 4 days straight. She still pushes herself a bit too far, but without Irena there, it probably would've been a lot worse, and Scin probably wouldn't have accepted help from the locals because Irena is the one who convinces her to do so.
Scin ends up finding a lot of peace in Irena's company during this time. She has nothing against anyone else especially her follow Lupas, but after Penance, her outlook changed a lot. With that change came a lot of new internal issues she wasn't sure how to handle. Irena was a fresh face, a kind soul, and someone who didn't have a judgemental bone in her body. She was someone Scin felt comfortable around and never felt pressured to share anything she didn't present herself. The topics almost always stayed on their shared interests, and the two spent most of those 4ish days happily talking for hours upon hours.
After supporting her through all of that, Scin wanted to repay Irena. She wasn't entirely sure how outside maybe inviting her to a night out with Schnee to go see an opera or play, so she asked Leena and Indigo if she could participate in the wedding. They both agreed, understanding who of all people was asking, and Scin provided a role for her. Irena will enter with Lumiere and the Alman Officiant at the start of the ceremony, and assist them with preparing the chapel in traditional Alman fashion. Once complete, she'd move to the side and be joined by Rena and Scin when they finish being Flower Girls.
Lot of background. Irena is wholesome af and I love her. Enjoy.
