Il y a beaucoup à apprendre avant le festival, car le cycle fongique est un vrai mystère pour les non-initiés.
Ce que l'on peut voire et toucher, ce que l'on appelle "champignons", n'est qu'une manifestation de l'invisible mycélium, dont la nature exact reste un autre grand mystère, même pour les initiés.
Plante ? Animal ? Lichen ? Algue ? Tout à la fois ? Qui sait...
