Polaris For YouNext on my completely random list of people who needed updates is Tone. Named after my "least favorite" IJN ship. She's got great style, great firepower, and overall is a solid ship. But I can't get behind the all guns in the front design. I feel the same way about the HMS Nelson and Rodney so it's nothing personal. Just a bad strategy imo. Limits their effectiveness way too much. Anyway back to Tone, who is based off the Wo-Class from Kantai Collection.
To recap, Tone is a Major Demon the players and company will encounter in the Late Game while they're inside Belka hunting ND-2, a Major Demon that was pushed from the ocean of Belka's northern coast by the Osean Navy. They'll be getting ready to go attack ND-2 when Tone strolls into their camp. She does her best to greet the group warmly. Obviously a Major Demon waltzing into your camp is crazy and most of the group will get ready to try and destroy her as fast as possible, but she manages to get them to hear her out with a little help from Rena. Since she didn't outright attack them, Rena gives her an opportunity to explain.
As it turns out, she's there tracking one of the players. They have something of hers. In the Early Game, one of the players will be attacked by a Demonic Fear. This one's reference is The Nun. It gives me panic attacks if I look at it too long so it was a perfect fit. Fears work by penetrating a person's mind, usually while they're sleeping, and slowly and painfully tearing their minds apart, causing them to convulse violently, lash out and attack the people around them, peel their own skin off from the pain, etc. Brutal business. The Fear is driven off, but it left something inside the player it attacked.
Tone explains what she created and refers to as a Seed. It takes root in the target's mind, and over time melts their brain, the same way a Fear would. What she hides, is the result. What Tone is actually doing is turning people into Major Demons. ND-2, who shares Tone's appearance almost exactly but has yellow eyes, was one of her subjects. She tip toes around this by saying ND-2 is "related" to her, like a sister. Kind of. The reality that the players may not ever find out, is ND-2 was once a human, was implanted with a Seed, and turned into a Major Demon.
To Tone's credit, she only chooses willing volunteers. People close to death in one way or another. But that's as far as her morals go. Major Demons are sociopaths. Without exception. Past this horrific pursuit though, she maintains a neutral opinion on the people of the world. Her focus is on literature and knowledge in about any form over fighting. She only kills in self defense. She will also let them know about her kind.There are plenty of others like her who don't care to fight or can't be bothered to worry about this world, but Moloch and his faction are determined to destroy it.
Tone is around a lot in the Late Game. If I make more maybe I'll share another story. For now, enjoy Tone.
