So I made a few decisions after writing Irena in the other night. Kind of as a result of her in general and wanting to give her plenty of screen time. My new plan is to "scrap" the Support system. TLDR: If the party needs a specific form of help, like a Tank or Melee DPS or something, they ask me and I provide them with someone to fill the role. Nezhnyy was the tutorial character for this mechanic. I'm not fully removing the system, I'm just sweeping it under the rug and if the players still need it sometime I'll use it. But I'm not actively promoting it anymore. I don't think they really will need it is why I'm making the change.

So. In its place. Irena is taking over. The Early Game is very scripted. The players will have Flaxen with them for most of it and Alvis later. They won't need any extra help. The Mid Game is where the players will get some freedom. A few of Lupa Team will pop in and out once in a while, but outside those events, it's just the players and Rena. This is where I figured they'd want to be able to look for help. Instead. Based off their composition, I'm adding Irena as a front line DPS who will join the group at the first place they go to once they're free range in the Mid Game. That being the case...

Irena will be in the Beach Episode. Yay. Her blindness will be no factor as she joins the fun playing in the water, building sand castles, and getting involved with the volleyball game. Thanks to her detection magic and special crystal, she is a force to be reckoned with. That's not where the fun ends either.

In her background, Irena's father gives her his personal sword to help keep her safe. I'm using Franka's rapier from AK as its reference. The thing looks wicked. It's by no means any ordinary sword. Rena will pick up on this immediately when she sees it the first time. This gives Irena a perfect opening to get close to Scin, who loves war related history, Viola, who loves weapon design, and Indigo, who uses a Katana that works similarly to this specific rapier. She's going to fit right in and make quick friends with everyone.

As night falls, she'll join some of the group on the beach, and have them describe the sunset to her. After the sun goes down, she'll lay out a towel and ask Pima, our resident Star Seeker, to point out the various stars and constellations for her. It's more very wholesome content that I'm hoping will offset some of the heavier events and topics the Mid Game brings to the group.

I'm still expanding Irena's lore by the day. I've worked out a lot of her past already. Still not the reason for her blindness, but some of her home life, growing up, receiving her crystal, being trained in combat by her two brothers so she can fight and defend herself, and finally being able to leave the nest and become an independent Adventurer. There will 100% be more of her in the future as I make more plans and lore for her.

Enjoy a second look at Irena Dvornik. Sporting her adorable swimwear and unbreakable smile.
