Petrus92For this week’s picture I decided to make an alternative colouring to one of my favourite linearts that I commissioned a long time ago. This lineart is drawn by an impressive artist known as Personanongrata, he is a fellow wetsuit/scuba lover like myself. I associate him more with more mature style scuba pictures than what I usually commission, certainly makes him stand out to me since I sometimes wish to be a bit less seiso ^^. Since I was impressed by his work I decided to commission him a scuba picture with a twist. As you know from my previous pictures I have commissioned/drawn a lot of pictures with LAMA gear and as such I often like to see other types of scuba gear on my favourite characters. As such in this picture I had Byleth to go on a dive with a full face mask gear alongside with a spear meant for spearfishing. I guess that this serves as a spiritual successor to the Byleth’s LAMA concept sheet where Byleth wanted to fish/observe fishes more effectively by using a different equipment. She is proficient in using spears after all since she teaches spear combat in the academy after all, so it fits her perfectly ^^. Or maybe the best teacher got bored with all of the fishing during our numerous Three Houses playthroughs and wanted spice things up by making all of the hard to catch fishes suffer by impaling them with extreme prejudice ^^. Even that makes sense for her character since she is a former mercenary, you have to remain calm and collected in that job in order to excel. Showing mercy and hesitation would be a sign of weakness, I love girls with that kind of professional attitude in a deep level ^^
The colouring process was straightforward on this picture since it didn’t involve LAMA gear or complex backgrounds. It often feels like a breather to go to more standard scuba gear after LAMA ^^. Personanongrata’s linework is exquisite to colour and as such really didn’t run into any major issues during the colouring process. Not really anything else to comment on the process, overall it was a wonderful time to work with Personanongrata on this picture. I would love to work with him again in the future although that seems unlikely due to his current state of live, at least I can hope that life will treat him better. You all should wish so too ^^
