Introduced within the "Festive Surprise 2016" event within the "Import/Export" update, the Comet Retro Custom appears as the old school "retro/classic" version of the standard Comet, being a homage to the older version of the cars appearing in the previous 3D era titles, but fitted with a custom widebody kit by default.
Like its successor, the car is based on the Porsche 911, albeit the older models — primarily the 964 with some influences from the 993 — and fitted with an RWB style widebody kit.
By default/stock form, the front bumper of the car is based on the Mid Night Porsche Works design, which was also used on the infamous Yoshida Specials Porsche 930 of the Mid Night Club. The integrated ducktail spoiler also seems to be inspired by the one used on the 1973 year Martini Porsche 911 Carrera RSR, but shorter in length.
It's also worth to mention that, unlike the standard Comet which ran a V8 engine(a bit similar to the 997-based RUF RGT-8), the Comet Retro Custom instead uses a more accurate flat-6 engine design, just like its actual real-life counterpart. In addition, an "off-road" version of the retro custom car also exists too, named the "Comet Safari"(which was based on the "Leh Keen Safari 911" and the Porsche 953).
Vehicle appears in GTA V, though only exclusive in the "GTA Online" portion of the game.
