While outwardly distant and a bit abrasive, deep-down Claire is a passionate and loyal individual to the few who have gained her trust.
Claire found a love of the ocean at an early age. Her father a marine biologist and her mother a photographer with specialty in underwater shots, she practically learned to swim before she learned to walk. Frequent trips to the beach and ocean boat rides were common occurrences for the Kaimana family. One day however her father would disappear after venturing out to sea on a research trip. His team and their boat were never found nor any distress communications. It was as if they simply disappeared off the face of the planet.
Being only 10 years old at the time, she was unable to completely process the tragedy, and her mother’s behavior in coping did not help. Life would only get tougher as she grew up, becoming more self-reliant. Coupled with a sooner growth spurt as well as her more mature appearance in her teens, she was a frequent target for schoolyard ridicule and had few if any friends. The only solace she found was in the ocean. At a young age she would learn both freediving techniques as well as acquire scuba certification so she could travel with her parents. In the ocean it was quiet and she could be herself and forget the world, if only for a few minutes at a time.
Attempts to find information on her father would prove fruitless. When she became older it became an obsession to find out anything about him. Where has he gone, why did he leave, what was he even trying to do out there? It would practically break her, and she would fall into a dark spiral. In this lowest point she would meet Diana Dyer, the owner of a modeling agency. As a new startup she was looking to find new talent and believed that Claire was the beauty she was looking for, and with her physical talents in diving Diana believed she could fill a niche in the modeling world for underwater art. Claire was confused by the women’s help, and even more confused by the nice things she had to say to her. After some hesitation she would sign on as her first model for her new agency. Perhaps making a name for herself in underwater modeling may draw in someone in aquatics that may know something about her missing father…
