At the time, Tangle was too shaken to consider that Whisper hadn’t been just taking about Mimic.
The second she had heard her fellow Cutters frantically panic on the coms and saw the facility doors shut tight, all the red flags arose. Whisper didn’t hesistate to start running from her position with her Orange Wisp in the lead. She wasn’t much for too mad of a dash due to sniper missions but hearing the chaotic chatter helped her built speed.
Wolves like her learned to squint to keep up a poker face in any battle. That Whisper’s eyes were wide open with raw fear could tell anybody in the vicinity that something was wrong. Her tears poured out, furiously denying the idea that Mimic could.
She built up speed down the hill, her limbs lunging wildly with reckless abandon. She prayed that she’d be in time, that this would be a close call like all the others.
At that moment, the sky was falling…

I love twisting the knife and thinking that Whisper tried her utmost to even the odds. Something she’d rather keep to herself out of shame.
