KirstyHuion were kind enough to send me the Kamvas 13 to try out! As a longtime pen tablet user, I was nervous but excited to have a go at my first screen tablet, and I would like to share my experience with you!
🌷 Aside from the essentials, the tablet came with a penholder with 10 replacement nibs, a Huion 3-in-1 cable, a glove, a cleaning cloth and an adjustable stand. Since my laptop doesn't have a HDMI port, I ordered the Huion USB-C to USB-C cable separately. Although it costs a bit extra, I definitely recommend it, since it allows me to connect the tablet to my laptop with only a single cable.
🌷 It was surprisingly easy to get started working with the Kamvas 13. My main fears about working with screen tablets were how difficult it would be to calibrate, and the colour accuracy and brightness of the screen display. After installing the driver, however, I had no trouble with the tablet's calibration, and with the menu it was easy to adjust the display of the tablet to a comfortable setting. The driver menu also allows you to adjust the shortcuts for the buttons on the tablet and pen, and the only complaint I have is that the scroll shortcut for zooming in and out is a little clunky.
🌷 Depending on what you're used to, the display may feel on the smaller side. Personally, I love the compact size of the tablet, which makes it easy to bring along when travelling. The stand is equally compact but still provides a sturdy support while drawing. I also appreciate that the pen does not need to be charged, and that the tablet can be used as a pen tablet while the screen is off.
🌷 To summarize, the Kamvas 13 was easy to adjust to and comfortable to use. Combined with the affordable price, I think it's an excellent choice for anyone looking to get started with their first screen tablet!
