ZernasssEssentialists or also known as Essence Users are those in the world that can influence it's natural phenomena with their own internal essence.
Now, what is essence? This has been part of a scholarly debate for centuries if not longer. Sometimes it is difficult to distinguish hearsay from reality. It has been determined that everyone in the world posses some modicum of this substance or energy within themselves, but only around 10% of the population can actually do something useful with it and those are considered Essentialists.
There are 2 main ways in which Essence can be used: internal and external.
The use of internal essence is similar in almost everyone. It is the process where you take your essence and use it to strengthen your muscles, brain, bones, blood vessels, lungs, etc... It is particularly flexible in its use and variability on both strength and durations varies from individual to individual.
The external use is a bit more restricted and the reason for this has yet to be determined. Most essence researchers hypothesize that it is because there are different types of essences that have different affinities. Either way external use can affect the natural phenomena and sometimes produce secondary effects.
The most common of these examples is the water essence users that can mobilize water for either to use as a shield or as an attack, but if they put their mind to it they can use it for healing. Or the shadow essentialist that can obviously control the darkness in the room, but can also be used as sort of a detecting mechanism and so one with every different essence.
Another thing to note is the possible evolutionary effect that essence may have had in our world to create the main sentient races. It is believe that through essence involvement it cause our common ancestor to start diverging from each other, but that topic is a theme of it's own and should be expanded later on.
