Tower of Terror, Story #5: Mr. Clean
Chris clearly was having a tough time of it.
Cleaning this bathroom had yielded some less than stellar results. He honestly wished he could stop and retreat to his room for a nice rest but he couldn’t stop until his job was done.
Today was cleaning day and he was always thorough. Always.
When Chris set his mind towards completing a task, he got it done with more than a little time left to spare. Then he could maybe relish in attempting to do it again to make sure it was doubly clean. The way things were going here, cleaning it once might have to suffice though.
No matter what he did, the weird black spot on the bottom of the tub just wasn’t coming off!
“Okay, you little sludge stain…” Chris narrowed his eyes as he took out the triple whammy of his Super Ultra Deluxe Cleaner, the steel wool with soap in the bristles, and the magic eraser. “If doing all of these one at a time doesn’t work then how about all three at the same time!”
He shouted his desire to make sure this stain suffered the consequences of existing within his house and got to scrubbing and cleaning. He sprayed and rubbed the obstruction down with as much strength as his arms could muster. Despite what people may say about his personality, he was no pushover.
Yet, despite that, when he removed his hand, the area in the tub he cleaned was spotless and sparkly… except for the stain!
Chris’s heart dropped.
He leered down at it, examining it closely with his eye. “Is it… perhaps just an extremely small piece of the tub that was made black instead of white when it was created…? No. Impossible. I’ve cleaned this tub plenty of times. I’ve done it multiple times a day sometimes. I’ve never seen this particular spot here!”
Chris pouted and slumped on his knees. He was here in just his rolled up sweater, his yellow gloves, and his Disney Princess underoos. No one liked wearing pants in their own home and neither did he, even if he risked being embarrassed by Troy.
Speaking of which, the loud banging outside the door was starting to bug him.
“Go away Troy,” Chris shouted.
“Why? It’s not your bathroom! It belongs to everyone! I’m gonna call mom and dad and tell them you need to stop eating so much fiber!” Troy called from outside the door.
“I’m cleaning the bathroom and you know it, dummy!” Chris snapped. “Go away!”
“You’re usually done by now! What’s the hold up?!” Troy asked.
“It’s this stain…!” Chris snapped.
Troy got quiet.
“Fine. I’ll shower in the morning. Whatever.”
He then left. Chris sighed.
He didn’t like the idea of leaving this stain unattended to but it wasn’t coming out, no matter what he did. Oh well.
