This skin is inspired by the Deus Ex franchise, particularly the black-gold color scheme and abstract triangle patterns associated with the newer games of Human Revolution and Mankind Divided.
The Praetor Suit's design is based on the Titan armor augmentation in Mankind Divided, and the color scheme was inspired by the "Berserker" avatar from Deus Ex: Breach

The shoulder launcher takes the form of the Hyperion plasma cannon, and the Doomblade has been replaced with the Nanoblade. The design of the forearms (which are canonically uncovered by the Titan armor and for the Berserker avatar) was based on the Shadow Operatives.
And the name "Machina" simply comes from the full phrase of "Deus Ex Machina," or "God from the Machine."
