do you ever just think about how ginyu's body change ability coupled with the apparently canon fact that the body we see him in in the show isn't his original body? and about how fucked up that must be for his sense of identity?
like picture this. you just can't stand being you. you just wish that you could do something to fix this nagging need to just not be you. not in a gender way, but just... you long to be something else fundamentally. therefore, from a young age, you hone an ability to switch bodies with someone else. it's a dream come true, and you immediately swap with the most popular kid in your class in order to get your way. however, the cold hand of reality slaps you across the face as it so often does to unruly children who think they have a plan to get what they want, so you switch back. the root problem remains unsolved though. you're not sure where it came from due to the memory growing age fog like mold on a peach, but somewhere along the line you switch and decide to stay there. your old body is left behind, never seen again. as far as you're concerned, this is your original body now. you take up work here & there, loving every second of your new life, and eventually settle as a space mercenary. you assemble a team that you grow so close to over the years that you consider them your family. but they never find out that you weren't this other thing at some point. it's a weight you have to bear even when you secretly tire of the body you've come to know as your own. with every body change comes that sinking feeling of going back into that tired old thing, but you know you have to because there's no getting your old body back. even if it were possible, your new family will never recognize you in it. plus, the unfamiliarity of being away from it for so long would surely ruin you. you mask this discomfort behind a facade of toughness and leadership, but the exact number of masks and veils you have at this point starts to be too many to keep track of. you got your wish to be something else, but you weren't prepared for the burden it would bring: the question of identity. and you carry it with you to your dying day.
