Saisei"Have you heard the rumour of the blind librarian? They say she holds a great secret..."
The inspiration for this drawing came from Fubuki's tweet about three alternative characters: https://twitter.com/shirakamifubuki/status/1551105449000595456 "A librarian with a thin voice who seems to have a serious secret while staying in the library".
I also took heavy inspiration from Warhammer 40k, and the Seahouse location in Ian M. Banks' "Against a Dark Background" -- a monastery in which the occupants are chained to different rails according to their level of superiority.
My main focus for this image was on trying to create atmospheric environment lighting, and took the approach of lighting the unlit scene by treating each light-source separately and adding in their effects on spaces and objects. Unfortunately I started from a daylight colouring and then adjusted the image to be "unlit". During the lighting phase this resulted in some banding, noise, and posterisation artefacts. Still, it was a fun approach.
