Gouaches: Himi 18 Colours Paints Set
Paper: Arches Aquarelle Watercolour - Acuarela - Cold Pressed 300g/m2
Size: A5
This is the first time I have used Gouache, an opaque watercolour paint, which Ghibli painters mainly use. It will dry and harden with time and need to spray with water regularly.
For my 1st gouache painting study, I selected the most impressive scene of Ghibli - The Entrance of Spirited Away's Bathhouse. Painting a Ghibli's scene is like being in the scene, and you will have a more profound experience of the details of their works, which is a beautiful journey.
Quick painting has a beauty of its own. I wanted to draw it more meticulously. The surface of A5 paper is tiny, and the process is quite tricky. Some parts are challenging to paint. I got stuck in the roof, windows and shadows, and finally, it took 4.5 days to complete.
The layering of the leaves is unexpected. It is fascinating to see the collision and layering of the colours. Some parts can be better. e.g. perspective can be skewed a bit, lines can be straighter, and the shadow of the windows can be heavier.
