Long ago, years after getting into games like Sonic the Hedgehog, I came across a series that will one day become another inspiration to my Draco the Dragon series. And that is the Kirby series.
My very first Kirby game was Kirby Super Star for the SNES. Ever since I enjoyed the game to no end, I've became a Kirby fan...BIG TIME. I loved this series since age 9-10 and still loved it now, after playing Dreamland 3, Kirby Tilt n Tumble (I still hated that game btw.), and my faves, Kirby 64, the GBA and DS handhelds, Super Star Ultra, and the original Kirby's Dreamland for the virtual console on my 3DS. I've even played and beaten many other titles afterwards...and I loved the series more and more. Return to Dreamland, Triple Deluxe, Planet Robobot, and Star Allies (one of my high top favorites). I was planning on getting Forgotten Lands, but I decided to skip that one. Can't think of why, but it leans towards the... lewd fanart that's been going around with his new Mouthful Mode. But regardless, and from what I've seen from many gameplay videos, it's a really fun and crazy game. Even for a game FINALLY going into 3D. And of course, I would talk about the Smash Bros series, where Kirby is in and became the starting character in Smash Ultimate's World of Light; but that's a whole different story there. 😄
During the years after playing Kirby 64, TV never ceased to amaze me now that I finally got to see what I've been wishing for. An anime of Kirby. And I gotta say, the Kirby anime, is by far the ONLY anime dub that 4Kids has EVER done right. Unlike the many other good anime they messed the heck out of just to tick us off. Though as of now, since 4kids is kinda gone, their silly dubs doesn't sound so bad anymore compared to what we got now coming from dubbing companies like FuniRoll (Funimation/CrunchyRoll). Anyway, Kirby: Right Back at Ya! was a fantastic anime, and went beyond my expectations as a kid. However, things got to an acquired taste when I first hear King Dedede and Meta Knight's dub voices. King Dedede has the voice of a loudmouth southern black dood, while Meta Knight sounds like a cool, yet random Hispanic dood. Kirby, though I was hoping he'd talk in this, he is actually a baby. He's already adorable as he is, even when he wasn't talking, other than the times he speaks in Smash Bros., but now he's gone over-the-top adorable at the same time. But what did we expect? It's freakin' Kirby. He's all about cuteness...with a side of god-moding epicness called the Copy Ability where he eats everything and take their powers. 30 long years, same as Sonic's last year, Kirby remain one of my most favorite franchises in history; and it's thanks to Kirby, that my Draco the Dragon series came to be. Heck, it's even thanks to Kirby, that I got the name, 'Star Warrior Robby', when the most inspiration out of that was Mega Man.
Anyway, thanks for everything, Kirby; and Happy 30th Birthday! 🥳
